On Tuesday, Martin took part in a Westminster Hall debate on Agricultural and Business Property Relief.
Martin is aware of a number of his constituents who have been farming for generations and made arrangements to pass their businesses on the next generation. However, a number of these constituents are already in their 80s and the seven-year rule is unlikely to affect someone of that age. As such, Martin has called on the Government for a modest compromise to allow for a resolution in these types of situations.

I met a farmer a couple of weeks ago in my constituency who is 80 years old and has made arrangements for passing his farm on to the next generation. However, the seven-year rule is unlikely to affect someone of that age. Does my right hon. Friend agree that a modest compromise could be made by the Government to allow for those sorts of situations?
