It was excellent to host the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Liz Truss MP, in Cleethorpes and Immingham last Friday.
The Chief Secretary visited Immingham Port, the largest port complex in the country by tonnage, and attended a roundtable discussion on freeports. Attendees included, Associated British Ports, Youngs Seafood, Humberside Airport, Humber LEP and Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce. I was delighted to hear positive responses from all guests regarding the idea of creating a freeport in Immingham and the wider Humber region.
Following these meetings, Liz Truss and I visited Grimsby Seafood Village before heading to Cleethorpes pier for some fish and chips.
