Martin Vickers MP, along with other neighbouring MPs, are campaigning for a £1.2 billion flood defence scheme for the Humber.
Martin said that: "We as a group of MPs are meeting the ministers responsible sometime in the next few weeks."
Due to recent major flooding in Cumbria, Yorkshire and Lancashire, local MPs are calling on the Government to agree to the £1.2 billion investment over 17 years.
Talking about his constituency, Mr Vickers said: "Thankfully my constituency was spared flooding this time around. The biggest threat here is tidal flooding, as opposed to what we saw in Cumbria and elsewhere. There is a scheme with the Environment Agency at present and I and other MPs are continuing to talk with them to ensure the improvements we put forward, which was a huge £1.2 billion scheme over 17 years, which would protect the whole of the Humber Estuary from tidal surges, come to fruition."
Martin has previously called for a joined-up protection for the whole of the Humber, and welcomed "an adequate down payment" of £80 million contributed towards the proposed scheme from Chancellor George Osborne in the Autumn Statement of 2014.
Martin has previously stated that "It is an awful lot of money, but my constituents, those of the hon. Member for Great Grimsby (Melanie Onn) and those in the wider Lincolnshire area deserve adequate protection."
Mr Vickers said the Humber deserved protection based on estimates for a once-in-50-years event, rather than the estimated existing once-in-200-years level.
He insisted that he, and his colleagues, are continuing to campaign on this issue.
