Ahead of the Budget this week, Martin has presented a petition to Number 10 Downing Street to call for fuel duty to be cut by three pence per litre.
As a member of the All-Party Group for Fair Fuel, Martin joined with FairFuelUK in the on-going campaign for lower fuel duty which has already seen the fuel duty increases planned under the previous government scrapped, and fuel duty frozen.
Martin said: "The campaign to reduce fuel duty by 3p is something I support in principle.
But I accept that it is a big ask bearing in mind that we have had freeze after freeze on fuel duty and a promise from this Government that it will not rise in this Parliament.
Although the Government have already done a lot on this issue, it is worth noting that fuel still takes a large chunk of people's weekly incomes and that any moves to reduce fuel duty would be most welcome.
If it makes motoring that bit cheaper, it is more likely that people will come to Cleethorpes."
