Martin has maintained his commitment to opposing an ever closer union by voting against giving the European Union [Approvals] Bill a second reading.
Martin said:
"As a long-standing opponent of the European Union as a political entity, I felt it important to oppose this Bill, one which clearly seeks to give British approval to the active promotion of the European Union through its own propaganda. Given that this particular issue is one which the British Government actually does have a veto on, we ought to have used it in the interests of preventing further integration, rather than choosing to support something which could be seen as an extention to the current competencies of the European Union."
