In an interview with the Grimsby Telegraph, Martin voiced his concerns over Bulgarian and Romanian Immigration as transitional arrangements end on the 31st December.
Martin said, "I am particularly concerned about the impact on local services a further wave of immigration would have."
"There are clearly more Eastern Europeans living and working in my constituency than there were a few years ago and I am very much aware of the pressure this places on local services such as housing, schools and GPs."
Due to the additional pressures that the free movement of Bulgarians and Romanians to this country could impose, Martin has signed an amendment to the Immigration Bill (currently before parliament) which would see the transition period for those countries extend to 2018.
Martin commented, "While I welcome everything that the Government is doing to try to limit the impact [of Bulgarian and Romanian free movement], I hope that by supporting this clause it will push them into taking even further measures."
