A leading Government Minister was yesterday given an insight into the phenomenal growth of Wren, taking in the headquarters that have been rapidly converted since the departure of Kimberly-Clark from the South Bank.
Business Minister Michael Fallon was brought to Barton to see the impressive headquarters of the kitchen, bedroom and stand-alone furniture manufacturer/retailer by constituency MP Martin Vickers.
And both are taking back to Westminster a strong message about investment relief for the forthcoming Budget, buoyed by the fact that more people could soon be employed there than when the nappy giant was in town.
Mr Fallon said: "This is a growth business that has gone from nothing to £150-million turnover in five years. It is a fantastic growth story. It is a really good example of a business that is growing. It is now employing 1,800 people across the UK.
